Only Real Madrid have been able to successfully defend their crown in the tournament in the Champions League era. However, Liverpool look a great bet to repeat that feat as they are valued at 4/1 in the

Given how strong they are at Anfield, as they proved when they turned a three-goal deficit around in the semi-final of the competition last season against Barcelona, they are going to take some beating over two legs. Nonetheless, they will have a battle on their hands against Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 legs.
It would be a fair conclusion to make that Liverpool are the best team across Europe right now. They have yet to taste defeat in the Premier League, while they finished top of the group in the opening stage of the Champions League.
The front three of Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino is the deadliest forward line in world football. Those players may be rested in the Premier League in and around big Champions League games, as long as their advantage at the top of the table is not eaten into.
Mane is having the best season of his career so far and could be a player who has a great chance of winning the Ballon d’Or in 2020. The Senegal international has upped his level over the last six months and there aren’t many players in the game which can match his form and contribution.
The Reds will take some stopping but Diego Simeone's men are likely to be fired up for the occasion and will relish being the underdogs.
