Over the years, some monumentally disastrous tenures have spearheaded the business behind
some of England's biggest clubs. Although Everton has fizzled into obscurity in the last 20
years, they were one of the founding members of English football and have played more
seasons in the top division than any other club. With nine league titles and five FA Cups,
Everton are much more significant, historically, than plenty of other clubs in the topflight.
Are they the worst-run club in the entire league? We would answer this question with a
resounding yes. They are lingering above the relegation zone with no direction, no actual plan,
or a regular center-forward who can score.
They have a team full of apathy, and with half a billion pounds spent in just over seven years,
their fans have rightly decided that enough is enough, with several vocal protests already taking
place this season. These are all characteristics of a club, board, and management structure
without any clue what they are doing.
Everton needs a new, fresh, and innovative approach. When implementing new ideas,
businesses can often draw inspiration from other sectors. For example, gambling companies

Throw in that Everton was hurdling toward the second tier; relieving Frank of his services was a
good idea. Bringing in the bewilderingly deficient attacking prowess of Neal Maupay isn't the
sign of a manager who can understand the complex magnitude of Everton’s problem. You'd
have to ask him why Boehly thinks this is a good move.
Although Lampard has said he welcomes the owner showing passion, he isn't exactly going to
tell his boss to leave the dressing room either, is he? The whole thing is absurd. Everton hasn't
reached the level where the chairman tries to wade in as a makeshift manager. However, they
need to draw inspiration from somewhere quickly.
Conclusion
Although there are clubs in the division that find themselves in a more precarious situation than
Everton does, plenty of them hasn’t spent anywhere near the same volume on players or
managers. But to be fair to their own Farhad Moshiri, it looked like he pulled off a stroke of
genius when he managed to persuade the ethereal Italian tactical genius of Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti, who has
won more European Cups on his own than nearly every team in England
combined, was one of the biggest scalps a club like Everton could hope for. We mean that with
the greatest respect. If it were the 1980s, Everton, becoming one of the world's top managers
wouldn't have raised an eyebrow.
The possibility of Ancelotti steering this gang of mediocre mercenaries could have arguably
been his most outstanding individual achievement as a manager. However, in typical Everton
fashion, an impromptu phone call to
Real Madrid to see if they could loan Everton any players
resulted in Ancelotti ending up back in the dugout at the Bernabeu two days later.
It's all relative, and Everton fans will undoubtedly feel they're the worst-run club in the country,
as no doubt, Chelsea fans probably do as well. While there are smaller clubs in England in a
more profound crisis, the idea of Everton having a billionaire owner and somehow ending up in
a far worse position than before they had one probably gives them the title of the worst-run club
in England. If they get relegated, it could spell the end of a club that has existed for nearly 150
years.
